The Simplehuman knife block was designed as an accessory for their steel frame dishrack and attaches to the side of the dishrack.
It can hold up to 9 knives, including a side pocket for holding a large chef's knife. The knife block has a strong steel body with a bamboo top that lets your knives air-dry safely, stay sharper longer, and look good doing it.
The knife block utilizes a rubber pad that sits against the side of the dishrack to prevent scratching and an integrated metal hook to firmly secure it to the dishrack.
The bamboo for the block was chosen because it is naturally anti-microbial and is easy on knife edges, while being naturally resistant to water. And to accommodate the knives in such a compact space, we had to design an intricate system of pathways into the bamboo block to accommodate all the knives.
