The JL Audio Primacy CS Centerpiece and CS Remote Controller serve as the command center for the Primacy home audio system—a reference-grade listening experience with system configurations exceeding $100,000.

The system consists of two primary electronic components: the CS Centerpiece, which houses the core electronics, and the CS Remote Controller, designed to provide complete wireless control from the listening position.

At the heart of the Centerpiece is a high-performance digital signal processor that enables precise system calibration and personalized listening profiles. Integrated high-resolution networking connects the system to the loudspeakers, while advanced streaming capabilities provide seamless access to digital music sources. JL Audio’s proprietary P.A.R.O. (Primacy Automatic Room Optimization) technology analyzes the listening environment and optimizes system performance specifically for the acoustics of the room.

For a product at this level, the interaction experience was expected to reflect the same level of craftsmanship as the audio performance. Every physical and digital touchpoint was carefully considered to create an interface that feels effortless, intuitive, and unmistakably luxurious.
As the user approaches either device, an integrated proximity sensor automatically awakens the interface. A subtle blue halo illuminates the precision-machined volume control while secondary touch controls emerge through the black glass surface, presenting only the controls needed at that moment. The experience is intentionally calm, reducing visual clutter while creating a sense of anticipation before the first note is played.
The volume knob became the defining tactile interaction of the product. Machined from solid aluminum, it features a custom knurled grip designed to provide exceptional precision and a smooth, substantial rotational feel. Its face incorporates a finely patterned texture inspired by luxury mechanical timepieces. A tinted center cap partially conceals this detailing, creating a dynamic optical effect that subtly reveals and obscures the pattern as the viewing angle changes. The center cap also communicates the knob’s secondary push-button functionality without relying on visible graphics or labels.
Material execution was equally important to the overall experience. Both the CS Centerpiece and CS Remote Controller begin as precision aluminum die castings before undergoing extensive CNC machining to achieve crisp detailing, refined surfaces, and tight tolerances throughout. The black glass interfaces are precision-cut with polished beveled edges, creating seamless transitions between materials while reinforcing the product’s architectural quality.
The resulting products possess a reassuring sense of permanence and precision. The CS Centerpiece weighs 18 pounds, while the CS Remote Controller weighs 1.72 pounds—carefully considered masses that contribute to a tactile experience consistent with the exceptional performance of the Primacy audio system.
